Anybody who follows Laguna Tennis will know by now that our match against Cate last week did not go well. However, we’re on the mend with a quick victory and over the next two weeks we’ll play four more matches leading into a rematch with Cate during their parents’ weekend.
The singles lineup has been looking sharp. Tristan Prinz came up with a big psychological victory last week with a 6-3 win over Cate #1 Kevin Ha, and Ben Furukawa and Phillip Hicks made quick work of their opponents at Carpinteria, having put in some good practice sets over the weekend. The doubles pairing of Henry Farrell and Martin Barnick has emerged as a strong combination, winning 2 sets against a stacked doubles lineup at Carpinteria High.
Laguna Blanca (6-4) completed the 10-8 win over Carpinteria High (7-8) with alternate Dalton Smith sealing the victory in singles. We will next be in action against Oxnard at home on Wednesday, April 16 and away at Dunn on Friday, April 18th. Then we’ll head over to Santa Ynez High on Tuesday, April 22nd for a highly anticipated match against the team that knocked us out of the playoffs last season.
