Cate Girls Get First Win of Season in Ojai

Cate girls’ tennis traveled to Ojai to face Villanova in Tuesday and came back to Cate Mesa with a decisive victory in hand. After going up 6-0 in the first round, Cate finished with a score of 15-3 and all traveling players got to take part in the action.

In singles, Cate got swept the competition, with junior Kate Dehlendorf leading the way. Freshman Summer Christensen made a very successful debut, winning her sets 6-0, 6-1, 6-1 and #1 player McKenna Madden won two matches before substitute Sally Shin came in for a win in the third round.

In doubles play, Cate was anchored by two wins from Victoria Herman and Pharibe Pope before they were subbed out, with the combinations of Kate Schroeder/Jean Shen and Eva Herman/Emma Liberman each finishing 2-1.

Cate girls’ tennis plays next on Saturday, September 21st at 11am on the Cate Mesa against Viewpoint High School.
