Our girls got off to a winning start in Condor League play today behind singles sweeps from Sophomores Julia Gan and McKenna Madden.
The match was close early on, with Laguna striking first at #1 doubles, but Cate countered with two wins and a default in singles play. Eva Herman and Jean Shen then added a win at #3 doubles and Kate Schroeder and Sally Shin came back from 4-1 down to win five consecutive games to close the first round.
In the second round, Kate Dehlendorf and Victoria Herman picked up a quick win at #1 doubles and Julia Gan followed with a 6-1 win in singles. Heartbreak befell the pair of Herman/Shen as they gave up a 5-1 lead against Laguna Blanca’s #1 doubles team, but Schroeder/Shin picked up a nice win against the #3 team.
The third round featured a quick 6-0 win from Summer Christensen in singles against the Laguna #2, with McKenna Madden also picking up a win in singles and Julia Gan collecting a default. In doubles, Schroeder/Shin picked up their second win of the day and new pairing Madeleine Gordon and Eva Herman picked up their first win at #3.
Cate plays Dunn on the Cate Mesa this Saturday at 2pm in another Condor League match.
